Shoulder Injury
Fractures
Fractures of the clavicle (collar bone), humerous (upper arm) or scapula (shoulder blade) and joint dislocations (acromio-clavicular, sternoclavicular or shoudler). These injuries are often caused by a heavy fall onto the shoulder or outstretched hand.
Treatment:
- If you suspect a fracture or dislocation, support the arm in a comfortable position and ask for medical help immediately
Rotator Cuff Muscle injuries
Can be caused by excessive or unusual activity of the upper limb resulting in inflammation of one of the four rotator cuff muscles, responsible for controlling and stabilising the position of the arm at the shoulder joint.
Treatment:
- Stop playing the sport that you think may have caused the injury
- Apply an Elastoplast Sport Cold pack at regular intervals
- If symptoms continue, see your GP or a qualified physio
